ACS – Outgoing hardwired

  • Incoming supply board for each level of a multi-level construction, the detachable incoming supply shall be fitted with a device requiring a tool or key for disconnection, failing that, they should have a direct connection (hardwired) AS3012:13.3
  • All ACS units connected to this ACS (3A) shall be limited to that level/floor of the building AS3012:13.3

ACS – Outgoing – detachable – plug and play

  • The Main switch on the incoming supply must be a different colour to all other switches and marked as “Distribution Board Isolating Switch” AS3000:2.3.3
  • The input isolation device shall be easily accessible without the use of a tool or key AS3012:14.5.4-C (behind a lockable window is not suitable)
  • The inlet and cascade outlet (submains) must be a different type to what is used on site for tools and machinery AS3012:15.4
  • Incoming and outgoing isolation and overcurrent protection shall be provided e.g. cascade connections (submains) must have overcurrent (MCB) and isolating switch AS61439:101.6.5 AS3012:14.3 and 15.5
  • Switchboards must have an insulated tie bar AS3012:2.3.2.1
  • Switchboards must comply to AS61439.4 from May 2021 AS3012:13.1
  • Each socket outlet is required to have an isolation switch and be protected by overcurrent protection AS3000:4.4.4.1
  • All live conductors of an a.c. circuit shall be able to be isolated by the distribution board isolating switch including the cascade outlet AS3000:2.3.2.1.2
  • The number of RCDs protecting outlets on final subcircuits must exceed one AS3012.2.4.6.1
